Scintillant Hummingbirds

These Scintillant baby hummingbirds are very tiny.  The eggs are smaller than a jellybean and the nest is the size of a large regular egg.  Amazing to watch.  We have identified over 15 species of hummingbirds here.

The view of Cerro Chirrpo from our front porch never ceases to change.  Two days of high winds, followed by 2 days of heavy showers finally rewarded us with this beautiful rainbow.

Rolf discovered this nest behind our greenhouse in the forest.  We monitored these fledglings from the time they were eggs until they flew off to join their mother.

This bird is normally not in our area, however, it got lost in a storm and spent the next day eating bananas on our feeder.  What a treat to see it!!
